Katy MacKinnon - Bachelor of Science in Biology
Katy holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a field that has not only equipped her with a solid foundation in the principles of life sciences but has also fueled her deep passion for sustainability and wildlife conservation. Her commitment to the environment is evident in her extensive hands-on experience working with various protected species, including snowy plovers and green sea turtles. Through her work, Katy has developed a profound understanding of the challenges these species face and the critical importance of preserving their natural habitats.
In addition to her practical experience, Katy possesses extensive knowledge in cytogenetics, a branch of genetics that focuses on the structure and function of cells, particularly the chromosomes. This expertise allows her to appreciate the intricate biological processes that underpin biodiversity and the delicate balance of ecosystems.
Katy is not only passionate about wildlife but is also dedicated to educating the next generation about the importance of environmental stewardship and biodiversity. Learning about farm animals and animal husbandry focuses on the care and management of livestock, including cows, pigs, chickens, goats, and sheep. This program encompasses their health, nutrition, welfare, housing, and handling, along with the economic and environmental aspects of farming.

Our Plan
Each Friday from 8am-12pm bring your child to the farm for a day filled with adventure, exploration, and nature-based learning. This program is perfect for ages 3-10, with a maximum class of 8 in order for everyone to get the most out of each visit to the farm. Each day of learning will be centered around a different topic, ranging from large scale (clouds) to small scale (microscopic). We will also work on nature themed crafts, visit with the animals, and tend to our classroom garden. Sibling discounts available, as well as pre-payment for multiple weeks.

With 24 acres to explore, we have no need for offsite field trips!

Snacks will be provided each day, please make note of any sensitivities/allergies when signing up. Fresh water will always be available!
